The heavy smoothbore octagon barrel is inscribed "Gumpf" on the top flat, near the breech. There is a brass front sight and a crude iron rear sight at the breech. Barrel tang is a replacement. The lock is stamped in the center "KETLAND / & Co.". Brass furniture including an engraved pommel cap and faceted trigger guard. Silver barrel pin escutcheons and sideplate escutcheons are later. Stocked in highly figured maple with a cane grip. CONDITION: Barrel shows scattered marks from use and may have originally been a rifle barrel. Lock is a good reconversion and retains a brown patina. Trigger guard shows a repaired break to front tang and last 1-1/2" of grip have been replaced. DMG
