Joseph Lang was a gunmaker who operated at the 22 Cockspur Street, Charming Cross address from 1853-1874, with his son eventually joining the team. Gun features double triggers. Barrels have a beautiful Damascus pattern with address stamped on rib. Single bead. Has a droplock back action, engraved with maker on both sides. This beautiful engraving extends through the entire frame, trigger guard, frame, hammers, shields, takedown lever, and splinter forearm hardware. Has a lever release, all matching serial numbers, checkered straight English grip made of walnut with skeletal buttplate, also engraved. CONDITION: No dents, but there is a couple of small chips at muzzle. Gun locks up tight with no wiggle with fore arm removed. Sets at center. Wood has been refinished to near new condition. Mirror bores. Beautiful antique shotgun with oak and leather case, all straps intact. Maker label and oil bottle appear original but other accessories including snap caps, brush, ebony rod, turnscrew, and other attachments are not period to the gun. A top quality gun from a quality English gunmaker. CORRECTION: Both bores have patches of pitting.
