This early 18th century pistol features a round threaded screw-barrel and a turned cannon muzzle. Top of breech marked "I. SIBLEY / LONDON" in a cartouche surrounded by scroll engraving. The convex lockplate is engraved en suite and is marked "I. SIBLEY" in the center. Long iron trigger floor plate and a turned trigger. The striped half-stock is of very early form with a bulbous bag grip. Acanthus carving in relief around the barrel tang. Complete with a black metal display stand. CONDITION: Iron components have been cleaned and show some wear, scattered pitting and marks from use. Engraving and maker's marks are excellent. Spring is weak and top jaw and screw are replacements. Stock shows a repaired crack ahead of the trigger floor plate. An attractive and early pocket pistol.
