This famous English firm was founded in the mid 18th century by Thomas Ketland. Converted from flintlock with a drum-style conversion, swamped brass barrel, lightly engraved lock stamped "Ketland & Co.", iron lock and cock, brass trigger guard, wooden rod with two brass thimbles, a brass escutcheon atop the wrist roughly scribed "S. Swift" (?, difficult to rear) and bag grip walnut stock. Top of barrel is stamped London along with some engraving. Breech has British view and proof marks. CONDITION: Fine. Brass is nicely toned. Stock is excellent showing minor impressions. Mechanically sound. Bore shows some abrasions. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
