Octagonal, rifled barrel, engraved “London Fine/Damascus/Twist” near center of barrel around three of the flats; engraved German silver patent breech and tang. Barrel has engraved silver inlaid scrolls and flowers across top three flats, as well as two silver bands at breech. Swivel ramrod. German silver notched rear sight and front post sight. Percussion lock has scroll engraved back-action lockplate and bolster; lock marked “RICH’D HOLLIS & SONS.” Engraved German silver triggerguard with pineapple finial, buttcap with iron-doored nipple reservoir, and unengraved spine inlay, barrel key escutcheons, small oval escutcheon on left side, opposite lock, ramrod channel, and entry thimble. Walnut half-stock with checkered grip. Very good condition, barrel cleaned on top three flats, bottom side retains brown patina, as does the hammer and ramrod. German silver components have a mellow, unpolished patina and excellent engraving; rear finial of entry thimble broken off and missing. Stock excellent with a few light scattered marks from use.
