Lot #1332:
(A) ENGRAVED COLT SINGLE ACTON ARMY REVOLVER WITH EXOTIC GRIPS
This Colt Single Action Army revolver, serial number 169434, is an authentic first-generation example manufactured circa 1896–1897, retaining matching serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap, and bearing the correct two-line barrel address “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” along with visible patent markings on the frame reading “PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 / JULY 2. 72 / JAN. 19. 75”; the revolver has been subsequently enhanced with extensive full-coverage scroll engraving and punch-dot background work across the barrel, frame, cylinder, and grip frame, accented by a contrasting gold-finished cylinder and highlights that create a striking two-tone presentation, while the cylinder and frame contours remain consistent with original Colt manufacture; the piece is further fitted with non-factory carved exotic stone grips of custom form, replacing the original period stocks, resulting in a visually dramatic and highly decorative antique Colt “Peacemaker” that combines genuine Old West-era manufacture with later custom engraving and embellishment.
