Believed to have been made for the California market. The Forehand and Wadswoth Old Army revolver is single action with 7 - 1/2" barrel and chambered for the .44 Russian/Smith & Wesson Cartridge. These guns are very uncommon and rarely encountered with the stamped bear marking on left side above trigger guard. Numerous theories exist to this marking but none have ever been proven. Finished with blue finish overall and two piece oil finished walnut stocks. Serial numbered on butt 1167. CONDITION: Good with most finish on barrel having turned brown patina with several small areas of pitting. Frame retains over 60% blue with balance fading to patina. Grip straps are brown. Grips are excellent and full sized. All marking are clear and legible. Action is slightly out of time but does work.
