Manufactured by Remington from 1862 through 1865. This distinctive rifle features the rich blued barrel with right side bayonet lug, dovetailed front sight and the two leaf folding military rear sight. All furniture is brass including the patch box, two bands, US stamped butt plate and trigger guard. The case color lock is stamped REMINGTON ILLION with US and eagle and is dated 1863. The barrel breech is dated 1863 along with the VP and eagle head proof and STEEL RKA ( Remick K. Arnold ). The nearly full length walnut stock bears an inspector cartouche that is visible but not legible. Also comes with an older single frog sling. CONDITION: Fine. The barrel retains at least 70-80% blue that is starting to thin with some blending patina. Case color has patterned out but retains sharp legends. The stock is excellent showing nominal impressions. Even the patch box screws retain some of their bright blue. Mechanically sound with a bright 3-groove bore. Very sharp Civil War rifle.
