(A) FINE STARR CIVIL WAR PERCUSSION CARBINE
Evaluated as superior to the Sharps in many ways, these were issued from 1862 through 1865, specifically to the 1st. Arkansas, 5th Kansas, 11th Missouri, and the 24th New York cavalries. They were made in Yonkers, New York by the Starr Arms Company, whose legend is stamped atop the barrel and side plate. Iron hardware with brass barrel band and butt plate which has an inspector stamp B. Features the round barrel, dovetailed front sight, small ladder rear, a saddle ring and stud on left frame, and walnut stock with a matching forearm. CONDITION: Fine. Barrel still retains a large majority of blue that is blending perfectly with homogenous patina. Frame has drifted to a rich smooth patina. All legends are sharp. Stock is solid exhibiting some small dents and impressions with small chip at left side of wrist. Mechanically sound with a mirror bright bore.
