(A) FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE.
Octagon barrel with notched iron rear sight and brass front sight with silver blade. Lock marked "SIMMONS" in center and has a roller frizzen. Double set triggers. Brass furniture including pierced and engraved four-piece patchbox, oval brass barrel key escutcheons with brass barrel keys and a flat full sideplate. Silver shield wrist escutcheon. Figured maple stock. Replaced wood ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel cleaned and retaining a light grey patina. Barrel rebushed and showing heavy corrosion around touchhole. Lock appears to be a replacement and is in its original flintlock configuration. Brass retains a light mustard patina. Stock very good with scattered marks from use. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
