Mer not recorded in Stockel, but Blangy is a small town in the Normandy region of France, indicative of the French origin of pistol. Round barrel with 5 - 1/4" sighting plane, starting at muzzle, with faceted rings over chamber and partly flatted sides. Horn tipped ramrod (tip a replacement) feeds directly into a reinforced mouth, with relief carving of florals around channel and mouth. Flat banana lock with faceted pan, unbridled pan cover, with wrigglework engraving signed "C. I. MER / A BLANGY" in center and light scallop at rear. Swan neck cock with wriggle linework en suite with lock. Full length sideplate with double bolts. Floral engraving around tang. Iron trigger guard with pineapple finial, protecting a tailed trigger. Slightly flared butt with iron buttcap and mid length stirrups. CONDITION: Overall very good. Metal parts are an even pleasing mixture of gunmetal grey and light patina with easily readable legends. Some spots of minor peppering on sideplate. Stocks are very good with some minor handling marks and some minor chipping near sidepanel. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with a minimum of oxidation. EMW
