For an identical example with no maker's mark, see plate 62.MM on page 112 of "Battle Weapons of the American Revolution" by George C. Neumann. He states that some examples of this model are also Dutch and marked to an arsenal there. This example features around barrel with brass front half moon sight on top and bayonet lug mounted on bottom. The flat lockplate has beveled edges and is marked "TOMSON / A'LIEGE" in the center. Brass Germanic furniture including buttplate with the faceted tang marked "CORPL No - 9". Iron sling swivels on forend and triggerguard. Blonde stock with shaped carved panels around lock, sideplate and barrel tang. Complete with its original iron ramrod and an appropriate German triangular socket bayonet which has corresponding "C. No - 9" marking. CONDITION: Barrel retains a grey patina, some pitting around touchhole. Lock retains a matching patina and is in its original flintlock configuration. Markings strong, some pitting on cock. Brass retains a pleasing mustard patina. Stock some minor scattered marks from use and a small hairline crack in front of lock. Bayonet retains a dark brown patina.
