Joab Hapgood was a gunmaker in Boston circa 1847-1864. His name can be found on barrel rib and on both of the back action locks. Features the walnut half stock, light engraving on locks, hammers, and trigger guard, double triggers, and period wood rod. Both sides of the stock display a 4 - 1/2" Victorian style enamel painting. The left side is a multi-colored lion while the right side shows chained dog; Both are of the period and quite striking. CONDITION: Very good. Stock is solid but the checkering is almost gone. All iron is a smooth dark patina. Both hammers are in working condition. Bores are dark.
