Lot #1361:
(A) HENRY MARKED WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 LEVER ACTION RIFLE.
Winchester Model 1866 in .44 Rimfire, manufactured 1869. Octagon barrel with blade front sight and folding staff rear barrel sight. Henry Patent barrel marking. Gunmetal brass receiver with varnished straight grain American walnut stocks with brass hardware, sling swivels, and crescent butt with trap for cleaning rods. CONDITION: Very good overall as barrel and tube have attained a period plum patina with a strong bore with well defined rifling. The brass is nicely toned and aged. The wood has a sliver absent at front of forearm and numerous period of use bruises and impressions. Mechanically fine. A very honest 1866 rifle from the immediate post-Civil War era that originated in western Kentucky.
