Hess family attributed rifle converted from flint to percussion. Hess family worked in and around Lehigh and Northhampton Counties from the late 1700's to late 1800's. Gun has nice two piece engraved patchbox with release in the toe. Golcher marked flintplate converted to percussion and controlled by a single trigger. Pinched Lehigh style trigger guard and engraved sideplate. Octagon barrel with line markings in front of and behind sights. Petite red finished plain maple stock. Original ramrod with copper shell casing on end. CONDITION: Overall good patina on metal parts. Stock has been refinished and there is a wrist repair. Nice petite gun.
