(A) JACOB KUCHENREUTER PERCUSSION PISTOL.
The browned octagon barrel is profusely inlaid with silver scrolls and inlaid in silver is the maker's name "JACOB KUCHENREUTER". His deeply struck makers mark is in the center of the breech. The rear sight has two additional folding leaves. The flat lockplate has beveled edges ands is chiseled at the tail with a panoply of arms. Attractive chased and engraved brass furniture. Walnut stock has a relief acanthus leaf design around the barrel tang and has shaped punch-dot checkering around the wrist. Original bone-tipped wood ramrod. CONDITION: Barrel retains generous traces of original brown finish. Lock mostly bright and only has full cock position. Brass retains a mustard patina. Stock shows some light handling marks. An attractive pistol by a very desirable German gunsmith.
