This beautiful shotgun features backlock engraved actions stamped J. Hunter, engraved hammers that resemble fish heads, absolutely wonderful twist barrel, finished brown. Solid rib with single ivory bead. Rear of rib stamped London. Has a black ebony cleaning rod with brass tip. Has a one piece checkered walnut stock, engraved finials, engraved trigger guard, engraved nipple trap in butt, smooth steel buttplate, double triggers. CONDITION: Wood is near mint. Trigger guard and sideplates have been cleaned to shiny gunmetal grey. Bores are clean but frosted. Upper thimble has become detached and is included but will have to be brazed. Lovely example of a mid-19th century side by side shotgun. Whoever did the restoration work on this shotgun did incredible work as everything fits like a Swiss watch. It is in good enough condition to take to the range for some fun black powder shotgun shooting.
