Lot #1208:
(A) LOEWE C93 BORCHARDT 7.65X25MM SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH STOCK.
Early production C-93 Pistol manufactured by Loewe in Berlin. Designed by Hugo Borchardt and based upon the Maxim toggle bolt system. These ingenious designs led to the development of the Luger pistol by Georg Luger. These pistols had a very limited production of approximately 2500 pistols produced by Loewe, with a very low survival rate. Early rust blue finish with fire blue screws and trigger. Straw finished sear. Checkered walnut grips with piano varnish finish. Matching serial numbers "230" including magazine , detachable shoulder stock and detachable cheek rest. Barrel with BUG proofs on left side of barrel and full serial number on bottom. "D.R.P. / No75837" on center toggle link. Knob toggle with toggle lock. BU proofs on left receiver and toggle assembly. Right receiver marked "SYSTEM BORCHARDT PATENT." CONDITION: Very good with over 95% blue finish remaining. Slight wear on cocking knob from use. High point finish wear consistent with age. Bore is brilliant bright with sharp lands and grooves. Grips are very fine with most varnish remaining and sharp checkering. Action operates properly and smoothly. The 93 Borchardt Pistol Carbine is one of the most iconic of the developmental pistol carbines of the era. This directly developed into the Luger that was used through the late 1950s in Eastern Europe.
