Lot consists of (A) Brass barreled flintlock pistol by Ketland & Co. Brass barrel marked "LONDON" on top with private Tower view and proof marks, as well as "TK" for Thomas Ketland. The lockplate is marked "Ketland and Co" in the center. Brass furniture typical of imported pistols of the period. Partially figured walnut stock. CONDITION: Brass retrains a pleasing mustard patina. Trigger guard is a replacement. Lock is a good reconversion. Stock shows a minor repair at muzzle on right side. (B) Brass boxlock flintlock pistol with spring bayonet by Sutherland & Anderson. Brass barrel with fixed ramrod retained by 2 brass ferrules on left side. Scalloped boxlock action marked "SUTHERLAND & ANDERSON" on left side in a cartouche surrounded by arms motifs. Right side inscribed "LONDON". Breech marked on bottom with Birmingham proofs. Folding triangular spring bayonet mounted on bottom is released by pulling back trigger guard. Walnut cane grip. CONDITION: Brass retains a mellow patina and shows some wear and scattered marks from use, foremost ramrod ferrule has been reattached. Lock functions properly. Spring bayonet is strong but does not catch on lug unless manually placed there. Grip shows some shrinkage.
