Famed Guns & Ammo staff writer Phil Spangenberger was the cowboy shooting writing guru for over 40 years. He wrote an article entitled "SPUR TRIGGERS SIZZLIN SPITFIRES of the OLD WEST" in the June 1998 edition featuring pictures of 22 such pistols. These were all in his personal collection. This lot consists of : A. Ranger No. 2 (Hopkins & Allen) with nickel finish, 3" octagon barrel, .32 long rimfire with checkered bird head gutta percha grips. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains nearly all its nickel finish with scattered handling marks. Mechanically sound with a bright bore. B. Hopkins & Allen Dictator with nickel finish, 2 3/4" octagon barrel in .32 rimfire with checkered gutta percha bird head grips. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains nearly all its nickel finish. Mechanically sound with a bright bore. C. Hopkins & Allen Ranger No. 2 with nickel finish, 2 3/4" round barrel in .32 long rimfire and sporting checkered gutta percha bird head grips. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains about 90% of its nickel finish showing a few age freckles and some browning on cylinder. Mechanically sound with a strong bore showing some abrasions.
