About 15,000 Parker & Snow rifled muskets were made under contract to the US Government in 1863-64 in Meriden, Connecticut. The conversion used was manufactured by William H and George W Miller, also of Meriden, and the conversions were performed by the Meriden Manufacturing Company, also of Meriden, Connecticut. The base rifle action is stamped "Parker & Snow Meriden Conn" with eagle and dated 1864. The conversion block has the Miller patent legend along with "Meriden Man Fg Co." legend. The rifle was finished in the white with three barrel bands, metal rod, post front sight, folding leaf rear sight, near full length walnut stock and swivels. About 2000 of these conversions to .58 RF were made from 1865-1867. Rifle comes with US stamped bayonet. CONDITION: Excellent. Appears almost unused and unfired since conversion. Clean in the white metal showing only minor handling marks. The stock is just as nice with only a few minor impressions, probably refinished when converted. The rifle legends as well as those on the block are sharp. Fine working order. Bore is bright. Would be hard pressed to find a finer Meriden Miller conversion.
