Kentucky half-stock over/under combination rifle/shotgun made by an unknown gunsmith circa 1850, similar to guns made in New York and along Great Lakes. 35 - 3/4" round .45 caliber rifled barrel with silver blade front sight and notch rear sight over a 12 bore round shotgun barrel. Percussion Goulcher marked back action locks with double set trigger control and shaped front trigger. Curly maple stock with German silver hardware, including a unique engraved left-handed oval patchbox. Stock is decorated with silver diamond inlay, engraved pineapple finial toeplate and shield, and full spread-eagle inlays. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has turned a plum patina with areas of light pitting. Hardware has a nice original patina. Wood has been cleaned with areas of burnout around lock, repaired with what appears to be JB Weld. Dark pitted bore with visible rifling with good mechanics.
