This attractive pair of pistols have brass screw-barrels and actions. Both breeches have private London proofs on the bottoms. The scalloped boxlock actions have scroll engraving on both sides, the right sides have a banner inscribed "FREEMAN" and the opposite sides are marked "LONDON". The walnut grips are profusely inlaid with silver wire designs and both have silver pommel caps with arms and a lion perched upon a castle tower. Iron trigger guards engraved with a shell on the bows. CONDITION: One pistol shows much more use than the other, as is often the case with pairs. Barrels are still removable and proofs are very good. Actions are crisp and function well. Brass retains a mellowing mustard patina. Grips have some of the silver wire inlay replaced on both pistols. Silver pommel caps show some wear to high relief areas. A very attractive pair complete with black metal display stand.
