(A) PERIOD ALTERED SPENCER MODEL 1860 SADDLE RING CARBINE
These carbines were made from 1863 through 1865. This became one of the most sought after weapons for use during the Civil War with its buttstock loaded with seven rounds of ammo. This standard example features the round barrel, post front sight with blade, ladder rear sight with no spring, and walnut stocks; missing the loading tube and barrel band. Top of frame has the Spencer 1860 legend. Retains saddle ring and bar. This carbine exhibits a gunsmith made iron lever rather than the original. The walnut stock has a mounted swivel. CONDITION: Very good. Carbine retains no original finish and has drifted to dark patina. Legends are all legible. Stock shows numerous sundry dings and impressions. Mechanically sound with a strong six groove bore showing some abrasions.
