Henri Pieper made guns in Liege, Belgium in the late 1800s. The 1881 date is a patent date. There is a 12/44 stamped under forearm, apparently for caliber, but bore actually measures .40. It features double back action locks with patent legends and exposed hammers, double triggers, checkered walnut stock with round knob, gutta percha buttplate, and a splinter forearm that has replaced ivory inset. Barrels are stamped with 1881 date and patent with a flat top sporting rear sight and a dovetailed front sight. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels are a smooth light blue patina with sharp barrel legends. Frame is a mottled grey patina with sharp legends. Stock is solid but checkering is worn along with light impressions. Bores are clean. Action works correctly.
