(A) PORTUGUESE STEYR MODEL 1886 MAUSER-KROPATSCHEK BOLT ACTION RIFLE

Manufactured in Austria under contract for Portugal. This nice example is dated 1886. Blued barrel with tall blade front sight, ladder rear, tube-fed repeating action, and walnut stock. Action and left side of the stock has Portuguese crests of King Luis I, the right side with Steyr roundel. Action, stock and barrel are matching, although bolt is not. CONDITION: Very Fine. Rifle retains the vast majority of its arsenal blue with some areas of fading and spotting. Stocks show heavy handling with legible markings. Good, strong bore. Fine mechanics.
