It is estimated that only 5% of all the large frame Merwin's were factory blued and of the four large frame models, the open top scoop flute is the scarcest. There are matching serial numbers on both the frame and barrel but no visible number on the cylinder. The assembly number 636 is stamped on the side of skull crusher frame. The factory legends are found on both the top and left side of barrel. Sports the bird head gutta percha grips. Left side of frame has the Winchester 1873 legend. CONDITION: Very good. The majority of the metal is a soft brown patina with flashes of blue. No visible case colors on hammer or trigger guard. Grips are very good with a small crack on right panel. Cylinder does not rotate when cocked so needs some mechanical attention. Loading gate has a few small pits. Bore is well defined but frosted with minor residue.
