(A) RELIEF CARVED FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE ATTRIBUTED TO FREDERICK SELL.

Two-stage buck-and-ball barrel with notched rear sight and brass front half-moon sight. Hand-forged lock. Brass furniture of classic Frederick Sell and York County design. The plain maple stock is profusely carved with relief scrolls definitively identifying it as the work of Frederick Sell. CONDITION: Barrel has been browned. Lock is a a reconversion. Brass polished bright, buttplate with a small replaced square. One ramrod ferrule a replacement. Stock heavily refinished, some scattered marks, age cracks and wear to carving. Small piece replaced at toe. A real Golden Age Frederick Sell rifle. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
