These were purchased by the government in 1864. This carbine has the CGC inspector cartouche on left side of stock for Charles G. Curtis. There is a "J" sub inspector stamp on barrel with "D" stamps on upper tang, butt plate, and left side of frame. Walnut stock with matching forearm, one barrel band, saddle ring and bar on left side, round barrel, folding leaf rear sight, dovetailed front sight, metal carbine butt plate, Remington legend on tang and distinctive split breech. CONDITION: Very good. All metal is a smooth grey patina with scattered age freckling. Stocks are excellent with just usual minor impressions. Action is in fine working order. Bore is very crisp and shows just minor residue. A scarce Remington in better than average condition.
