(A) SCARCE US CONTRACT PS JUSTICE 1861 THIRD MODEL RIFLED MUSKET/
These were only built in 1861 with a total of 2174 units within all three models. This third type is distinguished by the double curved brass trigger guard, three brass barrel bands and tip, a brass butt plate, and the brass patch box. It is stamped "P.S. JUSTICE PHILADa" atop barrel breech and on the lock. Full length walnut stock, small dovetailed front sight, bayonet lug under barrel, and comes with an old single hook leather sling. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel is a smooth plum brown. The lock retains flashes of blue blending patina. All of the legends are crisp. Stock is very good showing sundry dings and dents. Brass is nicely toned. Mechanically sound with a bright, strong bore.
