The live portion of this session begins on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
The story of these conversions began in 1867 when the government contracted with the Sharps Rifle Company to convert approximately 30,000 .52 caliber percussion carbines to fire the centerfire .50-70 Government cartridge. This barrel was arsenal relined to a three groove bore. Standard features include the round barrel, blade on post front sight, Lawrence stamped folding ladder rear sight, saddle ring and bar, New Model stamp at barrel breech partially visible, walnut stock with no patch box, metal carbine butt plate and matching forearm. The Sharps patent legend are found on the right side of action. CONDITOIN: Very good. All metal is now a grey to brown patina with no signs of any original finish. Stocks are solid showing no visible inspector cartouche or DFC ribbon and reveals usual scattered dings and impressions. Mechanically sound with a well defined bore exhibiting some light abrasions.
