Factory inscribed "Wm. F. Odell From The Inventor". This magnificent Colt presentation 1849 revolver is among the finest to come to market in many years. The engraving is superb and lush with a wolf's head on left side of barrel lug and boldly cut scrolls on a punched ground. "Colt's Patents" is engraved in a reserve. The scarce and desirable 5" barrel retains nearly all its original lustrous bright blue. Loading lever with case colors faded to gray. Frame case colors have some vividity remaining. All screws are original and engraved. Cylinder retains much original blue finish with a perfect scene. Matching wedge engraved en suite. All cylinder safety pins are present. Deluxe walnut grips retain almost all the original finish with minor imperfections. Presentation inscription reads "Wm. F. Odell From The Inventor". Revolver is cased in a superb French-fitted brass-bound rosewood box with original paper on bottom and purple lining faded where it hits the cylinder. Colt's patent flask retains nearly all its finish, lacquer and gilding. Includes blued screwdriver, paper wrapped Eley cap tin and blued Colt's mold with nearly all original finish marked "31PKT".
