Built on the No. 3 single action frame and manufactured 1874 to 1878. The most distinctive feature on this model is the large screw on top strap and the squared off hump at frame. Revolver exhibits approximately 30% original nickel on frame, balance a grey patina. Matching assembly number 5330 on barrel, latch and cylinder. It sports a pair of vintage ivory two piece grips and lanyard ring. Indexes perfectly with excellent bore. Top barrel legends are worn and partially readable. This model Smith & Wesson has a storied Western history. Charlie Pitts, who rode with the James gang, carried serial No. 40639. A visually appealing Wild West big bore six gun.
