The serial number puts the origin of this rifle to 1889. This rifle, as well as two others, were once the possession of Robert Auth. We have a copy of a book on his life and art written by Francie's Camera. He designed the engravings of each rifle which is pictured on page 57 of the book. Each was engraved and gold inlay by master engraver Jerome Glimm and were part of his estate that was originally handled by Tony Kojis of Boise Idaho. This gun has been upgraded and finished to as new as a "One of One Thousand" and is so engraved on the barrel breech. The muzzle and breech of the barrel wear two gold wedding bands. There is light scroll engraving on the barrel breech, muzzle, nose cap, lever, hammer, tube cap and butt plate. The right side of frame features fully hand engraved front panel game scene. The side plate features a gold bas relief antlered elk surrounded by gold border and entirely surrounded by floral scroll and set off in antique silver. The left side is in same pattern but with a gold moose. Standard features include a full octagon barrel, full tube magazine, blue finish, 3X quality walnut stocks, checkered, straight grip and a trap butt plate (missing screw). Brass follower engraved 44 Cal. Sights include a brass bead front, folding leaf rear and a Vernier tang. CONDITION: Shows as new with light handling. The bore is defined and fairly bright but has some minor abrasions and was the only item that did not receive attention. Two line Winchester barrel legend is sharp. Comes with a copy of the Robert Auth official flyer showing this and all the other guns. There was a feature story on these rifles in he October 2011 issue of Gun Magazine. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
