(A) US DERRINGER MODEL 1817 CONTRACT FLINTLOCK COMMON RIFLE
One of the 13000 produced by Derringer under contract. Dated 1842 on flintlock and at tang. Strong US proofs and Derringer "*" proof. Small blade front ight and dovetail mounted rear sight. Brown uncleaned metal barrel and 3 barrel retaining bands. One piece oil finished walnut stock with distinctive pattern 1817 Common rifle matchbox. 2 small cartouches exist on left side of stock opposite lock but are not discernable. CONDITION: Very fine as found and uncleaned. Bore is dark. Lock operates properly. A very nice original 1817 Common rifle by Derringer.
