About 10,000 pistols made in Middletown, Connecticut from 1853 through 1855. There is a JCB inspector stamp for Joseph C. Bragg on barrel with US and proof P. Lock is dated 1853 with US and maker legend. Stock has the WAT inspector stamp for William A. Thornton and another JCB on left side. Iron hardware with brass furniture, swivel rod, small brass front sight. CONDITION: Very good. All metal is smooth patina with crisp legends. Brass is lightly toned having been cleaned at one tine. Mechanically sound with a sharp bore. This was a commonly used gun by dragoon units during the Civil War. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
