Approximately 10,000 of these were produced by Johnson from 1853 through 1855. Back of lock is dated 1853 with "MIDDtn CONN". Center is stamped "IN Johnson US". Features the single brass barrel band, swivel ramrod, one piece walnut stock, brass trigger guard, and straps. Barrel breech is stamped with "S.K." inspector cartouche, proof "P" and "US". The left side of stock shows a visible but illegible inspector cartouche stamp. CONDITION: Very good. All iron is a clean patina with crisp legends. Brass is lightly toned. Stock is fine and solid. Mechanically sound. Bore is fairly clean with some light abrasion. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
