Colt factory engraved presentation revolvers are among the rarest and most desirable of all percussion Colts. Serial number 26935 is engraved on the back strap "Presented to A.G. West/By friends in Colt's Armory/July 1864". Revolver retains a considerable amount of original bright blue finish on barrel with brown patina mostly above the lug, possibly due to contact with case lid. Loading lever has considerable original bright case colors. Frame retains most bright case colors; cylinder has considerable original bluing with fading on high spots. All numbers match. Frame screws retain some original factory blue. Engraving consists of bold scrolls on punch dot ground with a comical face on left side of barrel lug. Back strap and trigger guard have considerable original silver with most of the wear on back strap and front of trigger guard. Highly figured walnut grip retains most original varnish with some crazing. Cylinder safety pins are mostly intact, wedge has some finish and wedge screw is marred. Original blue lined factory case has eagle flask with most of the lacquer; the spout and top with much gilding. Exterior of the case is in fine condition. The unmarked .36 caliber mold has most of the original blue, one box of paper packet cartridges, and an Eley cap box are included with this extremely rare Colt factory presentation.
