Model 1885 High Wall single shot rifle made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1888. 30" blued No. 4 weight octagon steel barrel with no Winchester markings except "4" in usual barrel weight area and caliber "22 SHORT" at breech. Fitted with globe front sight, drilled and plugged scope mounting holes, plugged rear dovetail, and Marbles's tang sight. Case hardened action with single set trigger and standard lever. Plain walnut standard stock with brass Schuetzen style buttplate. Matching walnut plain forearm with tuning fork style palm rest and ebony inlay. Cody Research indicates this rifle was originally fitted with a No. 3 30" octagon barrel in 38/56 W.C.F. caliber. Letter does confirm set trigger. CONDITION: 90% original blue with corner wear. Action worn to a silvery patina with light corrosion marks. Wood has added coat of linseed or similar oil with some light scratches. Good bore and mechanics. DLM
