This private purchase commercial India Pattern musket manufactured by William James King of Birmingham circa 1820s or 30s. It features a Birmingham proofed browned barrel with bayonet lug front sight. Double line bordered lock plate is marked "W.J / KING" ahead of the cock and "WARRENTED" at the tail. Original flint configuration, the cock also decorated en-suite with a double line border. Heavy walnut stock with brass 3rd model style mounts. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel retains the vast majority of its browning light scuffing. Stock has scattered nicks and dings throughout as well as a chip to the rear of the top tang. Crisp mechanics. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
