Manufactured by DWM for the German Army, it was developed as a carbine type rifle substitute for Artillery and machine gun crews during the first World War. Manufactured from 1914 to 1918 and dated on top of the chamber; with this example being 1918. Toggle is stamped DWM. Long barrel pistol features an 800 meter adjustable rear sight. All matching numbers with the exception of the checkered walnut grip panels not being numbered. Original wood bottom magazine is numbered to gun. Features the blued finish with the strawed and Nitre blue small parts. Left side rail is stamped "Germany". Right side of frame is stamped with four Imperial German acceptance stamps. Gun retains approximately 85% original factory blue. Sideplate shows wear, turning patina. Some patina on front grip strap. Straw colors evident but dulled. Walnut grips are excellent. Strong bore and perfect action. Comes in a dark brown 1916 Berlin dated holster with wood handle cleaning rod and unmarked blued loading tool. Nice, all original, matching late-war Artillery Luger.
