Between October 1941 and June 1942, 38,001 M1 Garand rifles along with massive amounts of other war materiel were provided to Great Britain to bolster defenses as WWII escalated. Avoiding post war rebuild programs, these M1s remain in correct, early WWII configuration. This example was manufactured on a July 1941 receiver. Barrel date has been over stamped with British proofs, but is almost certainly correct. Blade front sight and early flat nut aperture rear sight. Correct "D28287-2SA" bolt, unrelieved "D35382 3 SA" op rod, "D28290-5-SA" trigger housing, "C46025-3-SA" milled trigger guard, "C46015-6SA" safety, and "C46008-2 SA" hammer. The walnut stocks are stamped with a nice boxed "S.A. / GHS" inspection and crossed cannons cartouche on the left, as well as an encircled "P" firing proof on the wrist. No visible import marking. CONDITION: Very fine. Nearly all of the original green parkerized finish is retained with some high edge silvering, scattered marks, and areas of old protective coating. Some freckling present on the bottom metal. Stock has some expected dings and nicks but rates very good overall. Well defined, frosted bore. ME of 1. TE of 2. Fine mechanics. A very nice, early war correct M1.
