(C) DELUXE EARLY SPECIAL ORDER SAVAGE MODEL 1899 LEVER ACTION RIFLE
This rifle dates to 1903. It is a special order rifle with the 24" round barrel, deluxe checkered walnut stocks with swept pistol grip, perch belly early profile and matching checkered forearm with schnauble tip. Other early features include the high polish early finish, brass cartridge counter, pinned white bead on dovetailed base front sight, rear slot has the filler and upper tang has the folding tang sight. The lever is case color. The barrel displays the early Type 1 Savage legends. The butt plate is standard curved rifle style. CONDITION: Excellent. The frame retains at least 80% of its bright blue that has thinned to patina at base and high edges. The barrel retains virtually all of its bright blue displaying nominal handling. The lever retains generous color with brilliant color on the sides. The screws are true and retain substantial bright peacock blue. Stock is excellent with razer sharp checkering showing minor handling marks. Mechanically sound with a bold bore that is lightly frosting. A beautiful very early Deluxe 1899.
