(C) DOCUMENTED SPECIAL ORDER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE IN .45-90
Scarce Winchester Special Order Semi-Deluxe Model 1886 rifle in .45-90. Documented with factory shipping certification from Buffalo Bill Historical center records confirming configuration and shipping date of March 8th, 1902. Blue finish with full length octagon barrel and full length magazine. Varnished American straight grain walnut stocks with smooth pistol grip and factory Winchester pistol grip cap with Winchester monogram. Case colored hammer, lever, and crescent butt plate. Mounted with 2-tone sporting blade front sight and elevation adjustable sporting rear sight with patent marked elevator. 2 line Winchester barrel address on top barrel flat with chamber marked "45-90 W.C.F.". These big bore 1886 Winchester rifles saw extensive use in the Rocky Mountains for use against America's largest and most dangerous game animals and as personal defense. CONDITION: Very good with barrel and magazine retaining an abundance of blue finish with balance toned to a homogenous patina. The bore remains bright with sharp rifling. The receiver retains over 80% blue finish on the sides with the underside and tangs having toned to silver from carry and use. The stocks are very good, full sized, with an abundance of varnish. The case colors on hammer, lever and buttplate have softened to shadows. The action locks solidly and is mechanically excellent.
