Originally manufactured circa April 1944 and arsenal updated into M1D configuration in the early 1950s. Springfield barrel dated "10-52", the drawing number hidden under the top wood as is correct for production prior to November 1952. Standard post-War sights and arsenal rebuilt internals. Oiled walnut stocks with boxed "S.A" stamp and circle "P" firing proof. Housed in its original CMP shipping box with wrapper and accessories, which also mostly remain wrapped in their USGI packing. Accessories include a M82 scope serial number "29229" with M1D mount, T37 pronged flash hider, cheek pad, and sling. An included 1972 M1D packing sheet lists the rifle and scope by serial number as marked in pen with 1985 and 1988 inspection stamps. Also included is the 1999 dated CMP requisition sheet for this rifle. CONDITION: Excellent. Nearly all of the arsenal finishes are retained. Flash hider has some surface oxidation. Stock has a few light marks and some age spotting. Razor sharp, mirror bore. ME rears approximately 1.5. TE just over 2. Fine mechanics. Clear optics. A wonderful, documented M1D.
