This model was manufactured 1907-1911. Long considered by collectors to be the finest bolt action sporting rifle ever produced at a factory. This rifle is manufactured prior to World War I. The cartridge itself was invented in 1905, based on a 2-1/2" bottleneck case and a 270 grain bullet. It was first employed on the famed Mannlicher Schoenauer but was not strong enough for this new round and the reliable Mauser action replaced it prior to World War I, and was utilized until discontinued in 1930's. This example features full heavy round barrel with integral lanyard loop, a pop-up ramp front sight, three leaf folding express sight to 300 yards, stippled action, blued finish, pistol grip checkered walnut stock, takedown, horn forend tip, pistol grip cap with trap that houses an additional front sight numbered to gun, rear sling swivel, a sterling silver presentation plaque engraved "GJ"(?), and a black composite buttplate. As are a majority of these rifles, this example has been expertly refurbished. The stock is made of dark walnut with an oil finish, sharp checkering and the metal retains 98% of the reapplied blue finish. The action locks up like new and the bore exhibits strong clean rifling. The rifle is accompanied by 20 loaded rounds (contemporary loaded) and a set of RCBs loading dies. An incredible early, pre-war takedown express rifle that is only missing a leather case.
