Lot #2208:
(C) EARLY MARLIN MODEL 39 LEVER ACTION RIFLE
The refined Model 97 became the Model 39 beginning in 1921, still using the old 97 profile with the full octagon barrel, full tube magazine, case color frame, blued bolt with swept pistol grip plain walnut stock, the Marlin gutta percha butt plate and matching forearm. The barrel has the proper Marlin legends and the tang is stamped Model 39. CONDITION: Fine. The receiver still displays some flashes of color, mostly in protected areas, with a mottled balance. Bolt still retains the strong bright blue. Barrel and tube retain the vast majority of blue but exhibits some sundry age freckling. Legends are crisp. Stocks are solid displaying some added finish with scattered impressions and does have the bulls eye at base. Mechanically sound retaining a well defined thinning bore. The tang has the refinish star marking.
