Standard configuration P.08 manufactured by Mauser prior to the outbreak out World War II. The receiver is stamped "1938" over the chamber, with Mauser arsenal proofs on the right followed by a droop eagle firing proof, which is also present on the barrel and breechblock. Metal components exhibit a salt blued finish, with the frame being mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers are matching and include the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open device, barrel receiver, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, rear toggle pin, grips, as well as the magazine. Grips are poorly fit and are possibly replacements. Pistol is accompanied by a Carl Weiss 1939 dated brown leather holster containing a proper loading tool as well as a spare matching magazine. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original arsenal finish, exhibiting some mild edge wear, as well as areas of mild thinning on the grip straps and barrel that show through to a pleasant brown patina. Mirror bore, exhibiting very light pitting and well defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing and a few scattered marks from handling and storage overall, but are otherwise fine. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting external wear and marks form handling and storage, with some areas of mild to moderate crazing. Holster stampings remain clear and legible. An exceptional, all match, and high condition example of a Mauser 1938 production P.08 Luger, accompanied by a proper period holster and its original matching magazine.
