It is estimated that Remington made approximately 6300 sniper rifles in 1943. This rifle is dated 1943 with the RA and Ordnance bomb stamp. Special features include the empty front sight slot that never had a sight installed, the turned down bolt, the off set serial number on right side to be completely visible, Redfield parkerized scope and rings and the walnut pistol grip C-stock with no finger grooves, two reinforcing bolts and the long handguard. Bolt is blued with balance of parts parkerized. Standard pressed steel small parts. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains most of its arsenal finish showing only nominal handling. Stock is excellent with minimal impressions. Mechanically sound with a bright bore. The ME reading is 0 and the TE reading is maybe a 1. Even the scope and mount have nearly all their finish. The reticle is a fine cross hair but a bit cloudy. This gun does not appear to have been issued.
