(C) JP SAUER & SOHN K98 MAUSER BOLT ACTION LOW TURRET SNIPER RIFLE.
The blued script "CE" code barrel is mounted with standard hooded barleycorn front sight and tangent rear. Receiver code and date are obscured by the forward scope base, which is soldered in place. Left side has an eagle "37" inspection ahead of the serial number as is correct for Sauer production ZF 39 snipers. Right side of the ring has a "1" indicating Astra Werke subcontractor receiver production. Front and rear bases are unmarked. Both rings are numbered to the rifle as is seen on Sauer production, the forward ring numbered on the turret and the rear on the lower left of the 2-part assembly. The underside of the rear ring is also stamped "171". Scope is a correct Carl Zeiss Zielvier with German post and line reticle. Red glue laminate stock with faint Heer eagle "H" on the right. Machined mounts and cupped butt plate. Externally visible numbers are matching. Includes a cross hatch pattern leather sling. CONDITOIN: Very good. Rifle retains the vast majority of its arsenal blue with some areas of fading to a plum brown patina. Stock is very good with lightly cleaned surfaces and a few scattered impressions. Crisp, bright bore. Fine mechanics. Optic has some expected hazing.
